WGS 834 TXR
A narrow front-loading machine with a mechanical programmer: three oval buttons on the left and three knobs on the right, programmes 1-18 without names, only numbers.
1. What do you need?
2. Machine panel
Tap the marks around the knobs and the buttons — or choose below.
3. What happens
Programme knob path: from the selected position to the stop
- 4Wash
- 5Rinses
- 6Softener
- 7Spin
- •stop
No conflicts: safe to run like this.
4 — Cotton, lightly soiled, short wash, up to 3.5 kg
Stops by itself and drains
How to start
- Machine switched off (I/O button released).
- Knob rpm to 600.
- Knob °C to 40.
- Knob P to 4 (clockwise only).
- Buttons 1/2 (half load), rinse hold released.
- Drawer: Main wash (2) — Powder or gel; Fabric softener (flower) — Softener if desired.
- Close the door until it clicks.
- Press I/O — the machine starts at once.
Short path: wash at step 4, rinses 5-6, spin 7. Suitable for items worn once.
4. Detergent drawer
Front view, left to right. Highlighted compartments are the ones the machine takes detergent from on this programme.
The drawer pulls out towards you with a little effort. The right-hand insert with compartments 3 and 4 lifts out upwards: thickened softener builds up under it, so it is worth rinsing.
Tap a row to set that programme on the panel.

- Power button I/O — Power button. The programme starts immediately after pressing, so set the knobs first.
- Lamp — Lit while the machine is on.
- Button 1/2 — Half load: the machine takes less water for washing and rinsing. For 1.5 kg and less.
- Button — Stop with water: the machine does not drain the water after the last rinse. To continue, release the button.
- Spin knob rpm — Final spin speed. At "no spin" the machine only drains the water.
- Temperature knob °C — Thermostat: the temperature to which the heater warms the water. The timer stands still while the water is heating.
- Programme knob P — Programme selection. The number is the programmer step from which the cycle will begin. Turn clockwise only, with the machine off.
The machine stopped with water in the drum
- The wash was on programmes 8-11 or 14-16: this is by design. Switch off I/O, turn P to 12 or 13 (synthetics), 17 or 18 (wool) and switch on.
- The stop-with-water button is pressed - release it.
- The pump filter is blocked - clean it.
Manual, p. 9
It takes in water and drains it at once
- The drain hose hangs too low: the top point of the hose must be 60-70 cm above the floor.
- The end of the hose is submerged in water - an air gap is needed.
Manual, p. 11
Vibrates strongly on the spin
- There is one heavy item in the drum - add a few more.
- The machine is not level or the lock nuts on the feet have loosened.
Manual, p. 10
The door does not open after the wash
- The lock is cooling down: switch off I/O and wait 2-3 minutes until it clicks.
Manual, p. 9
Does not switch on or does not take in water
- The door is not closed until it clicks.
- Knob P is on a stop dot.
- The tap is closed or the screen at the inlet of the fill hose is blocked.
Manual, p. 9
A lot of foam or powder stays in the drawer
- The powder is not for automatic machines.
- The drawer insert is blocked - remove it and rinse.
Manual, p. 9
Marks are stored in this browser only.
Disconnect the machine from the mains, remove the lower panel, place a container underneath, unscrew the filter plug anticlockwise, rinse and screw it back fully.
Pull the drawer out towards you, remove the right-hand insert, rinse with warm water.
If the water fills slowly, unscrew the hose nut and rinse the screen under the gasket.
Leave the door slightly open, wipe the seal, close the water tap.
Where the data comes from
- Operating manual Indesit WGS 834 TXR (RU), owner's paper copy, p. 1-11 (manufacturer)
- Photos of the panel and drawer of this particular machine (photo)
Assumptions
- The angles of the marks on the knobs are taken from a photo of the panel, approximately.
- The durations of the programmer steps are an estimate from a typical Merloni cycle chart; the manual does not give them.
- The water volume of the main wash (12 l) is an estimate for a 3.5 kg tub.
- The speed of the MIN position (300) and the spin limits for synthetics (600) and wool (400) have not been checked against the manual.
Not in the manual
- The manual does not give programme durations.
- There is no link to an electronic version of the manual.
Time is an estimate from the timer steps and heater power: heating 12 l of water from 15 °C to the selected temperature with a 1800 W heater. Real time depends on tap water temperature, load and mains voltage.
