Siwamat Plus 3600
A German machine with a lettered rotary programme selector (A, B, C, D, F, G, H, J, P) and a separate temperature switch that also serves as the power switch (position O). The programme name is not written on the panel; the key to it is only in the programme table, which is missing from the available copy of the manual.

How to start
- Knob °C to 40.
- Knob A-P to B (clockwise only).
- Buttons rpm (spin), e (economy), short programme, water level, gentle mode released.
- Drawer: Main wash (the insert for liquid detergent also goes here) (II) — Powder; Softeners for the rinse ("max" mark, do not fill above it) (flower) — Softener (if desired).
- Close the door until it clicks.
Programme B without prewash.
4. Detergent drawer
Front view, left to right. Highlighted compartments are the ones the machine takes detergent from on this programme.
A pull-out drawer with compartments. From left to right in the picture: II main wash, flower for softener, I prewash. The drawer has a blue insert for liquid detergents (placed in compartment II and put away in the spare slot when using powder) and a water hardness reminder disc: use a coin to turn the disc so that the arrow matches the water hardness in your area. The drawer itself is pulled out towards you as far as it goes, lifted and taken out.
Tap a row to set that programme on the panel.
| No. | Programme | Temp. | Spin | Drawer | Time | End |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A | Whites and coloureds, with prewash For heavily soiled laundry. Prewash, main wash, rinses, spin. With the short programme key the prewash is skipped. The manual does not give temperatures from the programme table. |
no heating | — | Prewash, Main wash (the insert for liquid detergent also goes here), Softeners for the rinse ("max" mark, do not fill above it) | ≈ 1 h 8 min estimate | by itself |
| B | Whites and coloureds, without prewash The main programme for normally soiled laundry. Also used for starching (together with C). |
no heating | — | Main wash (the insert for liquid detergent also goes here), Softeners for the rinse ("max" mark, do not fill above it) | ≈ 58 min estimate | by itself |
| C | Spin for whites and coloureds Spin only. Used, for example, after starching. |
no heating | — | — | ≈ 8 min estimate | by itself |
| D | Easy-care laundry, outerwear, curtains, with prewash Ends without a spin, with a rinse hold (the laundry stays in the water), unless the spin key is pressed. Temperatures from the table are not given. |
no heating | — | Prewash, Main wash (the insert for liquid detergent also goes here), Softeners for the rinse ("max" mark, do not fill above it) | ≈ 55 min estimate | with water |
| F | Easy-care laundry, outerwear, curtains, without prewash Ends with a rinse hold unless the spin key is pressed. For soaking: F, temperature no higher than 40 °C, switch off after 20 minutes. |
no heating | — | Main wash (the insert for liquid detergent also goes here), Softeners for the rinse ("max" mark, do not fill above it) | ≈ 47 min estimate | with water |
| G | Spin for easy-care laundry Spin only. Used to finish soaking. |
no heating | — | — | ≈ 5 min estimate | by itself |
| H | Wool Washing and rinsing run automatically with the highest water level. After the programme the laundry either stays in the water or, with the spin key pressed, gets a gentle or short spin. |
no heating | — | Main wash (the insert for liquid detergent also goes here), Softeners for the rinse ("max" mark, do not fill above it) | ≈ 27 min estimate | with water |
| J | Wool spin Short spin for wool. |
no heating | — | — | ≈ 3 min estimate | by itself |
| P | Pumping out the water without a spin Drains the water without spinning. Needed to finish a synthetics or wool programme without a spin. |
no heating | — | — | ≈ 2 min estimate | drain |
- Button rpm — Spin mode key (8). For whites and coloureds it sets the speed: released is high spin, pressed is low spin. For synthetics and wool the pressed key switches on the spin at the end of the programme. The speeds depend on the version of the machine: for example 900/700, 1000/800, 1100/800, 1200/800, 1300/800.
- Button e — Economy mode key (9): wash at a lower temperature (whites 60 instead of 95 °C, coloureds 40 instead of 60 °C) with a longer main wash. Saves up to 40 percent of electricity.
- Button short programme — Short programme key (10): shortens each stage, the total duration is about 55 percent shorter. The prewash is skipped automatically. For a small amount of lightly soiled laundry.
- Button water level — Higher water level key (11): more water for washing and rinsing. For delicate items (curtains, outerwear), soaking, starching and areas with very soft water.
- Button gentle mode — Gentle laundry treatment key (12; not on all versions): less mechanical action, the drum stands still longer and turns less.
- Lamp — "Operating mode" lamp (14): lit while the machine is on.
- Lamp — "Open hatch" lamp (15): lit when the lock of the loading hatch is released.
- Temperature knob °C — Temperature switch (13) with power switch and dial indicator. O means "off", I is cold water. The manual names the marks 40, 60 and 95 °C; there are no intermediate marks in the text.
- Programme knob A-P — Rotary programme selector (16) with a dial showing the progress of the programme. Turn clockwise to the desired letter. Symbols on the ring: U with one bar is prewash, U with two bars is main wash, a tub with a wave is rinse, a spiral is spin, a flower is the start of the rinse with softener. The positions of the marks are taken from the diagram on p. 16, angles are approximate; on the diagram the programme runs anticlockwise round the ring.
Marks are stored in this browser only.
Pull the drawer out towards you as far as it goes, lift it and take it out, pushing past the spring catch. Take the overflow insert out of the drawer and rinse everything under running water, push the insert back in as far as it goes. After repeated rinses with softeners always clean the insert, otherwise softener residues may block it.
Do not leave metal objects (paper clips, pins) in the drum or the folds of the seal: they may rust. Remove rust with a chlorine-free product, do not use wire brushes.
With correct dosing, descaling is usually not needed; if necessary use only special products for washing machines with corrosion protection.
Clean the screen at the water tap and in the solenoid valve connector on the back of the machine from time to time. Close the tap, relieve the pressure in the hose (selector on A, switch on for 30 seconds), unscrew the hose, pull the screen out of the solenoid valve with pliers and clean it with a brush under running water.
In a room where freezing is a risk, drain the remaining water from the pump and hoses: close the tap, empty the inlet hose, run any programme so that the residual water runs out, then empty the pump.
The pump needs cleaning only if buttons, paper clips and similar objects have blocked it and the water is not pumped out. Pull the plug from the socket, open the plinth panel (turn the plastic heads with a coin), drain the water through the drain hose (b) into a low container, unscrew the pump cover (a) to the left, remove the foreign objects, screw the cover back, close the plug and close the panel. Let hot liquid cool first. Before the next wash set A, fill the machine with water, then set P and switch on again.
Where the data comes from
- Operating manual Siemens Siwamat Plus 3600 (RU, scan, in spreads), p. 1-23 (12 разворотов) (manual archive)
Assumptions
- The manual in the available copy is in Russian, scanned in spreads; the page numbers (sourcePage) are the printed page numbers on the scans (contents: programme sequence p. 16, setting the programme 17, soaking 18, maintenance 20-23).
- The meaning of the letters is determined from the "Programme sequence" diagram on p. 16 and from the texts of the sections "Soaking", "Starching", "End of the programme": A prewash and main wash, B main wash, C spin (whites and coloureds), D prewash and main wash, F main wash, G spin (easy-care laundry), H main wash of wool, J wool spin, P pumping out. This is a reconstruction from the diagram, not from a ready-made table.
- On the diagram the programme runs round the ring anticlockwise (the symbols from prewash to spin decrease in angle), so the cycle.steps cycles are described from the starting letter forward along this ring.
- The angles of the marks on the programme knob are taken from the diagram on p. 16 (degrees clockwise from 12 o'clock), approximately; the timerOnly marks (rinse, softener, end) are stages of the ring, not selectable positions. The angular positions of the temperature marks are estimated evenly because they are not on the diagram (anglesEstimate).
- The durations of all stages are estimates: the manual gives no programme times. Typical values for machines with heating are used.
- The panel colours (face, ink) are approximate: the available copy has only black-and-white scans, and no photo of the machine was viewed.
- The page number for the keys (pp. 13-15), for setting the programme (17) and for the end of the programme (17) is taken from the contents.
Not in the manual
- The available copy has no programme table: the temperatures per programme, the load (kg), the number of rinses, the duration and the water and energy consumption are not known.
- The drum capacity, maximum speed (the manual says it depends on the version), heater power and the exact year of manufacture are not given.
- The marks of the temperature switch are named in the text only partly (O, I, 40, 60, 95); the others are not known. Because of this the temperatures in presets are limited to 40, 60, I.
- There is no troubleshooting table in this copy: the section "Notes on possible faults" contains only general guidance (p. 23), so troubleshooting is empty.
- For wool (H, J) the temperature and the purpose of the "J" mark after the rinse are determined from the diagram, while the text about them is scant.
- The exact temperature for "whites" and "coloureds" in programmes A, B is not given; the values in presets are based on the text about the "e" key and on soaking.
Time is an estimate from the timer steps and heater power: heating 12 l of water from 15 °C to the selected temperature with a 2000 W (not stated in the manual, typical value used) heater. Real time depends on tap water temperature, load and mains voltage.
