- Start button — The Start button (diamond) starts the selected programme. The "wash" lamp lights. Press it after choosing the programme and any extra functions.
- Button — Iron: reduces creasing. The spin runs in a special way and the laundry is then loosened so it lies freely in the drum. In Koch/Buntwäsche the spin speed is automatically limited to 800 rpm.
- Button — Extra rinse (tub with waves). The wash time gets longer. Recommended in very soft water and for better rinsing.
- Button — Shirt: a longer, more intensive wash for heavily soiled laundry. The programme time increases. Do not press it for small or lightly soiled loads; the load/soiling table is on p. 28.
- Button Start in — Next to the "Ready in / Start in" display. After you choose a programme the display shows the time to the end ("Ready in"). Press "Start in" until the desired delay appears (1h...19h, one-hour steps), then press Start. The dot between the digit and "h" blinks while the delay runs.
- Spin knob rpm — Spin speed knob. Basic position: pointing up. The 1200 mark applies only to the WFO 2451; the WFO 2051 tops out at 1000. In the position with the tub symbol there is no spin and the laundry stays in the water of the last rinse (rinse hold). Delicate programmes are limited automatically.
- Lamp — Four lamps to the right of the spin knob, top to bottom: spin, rinse, wash, power. The top three show the stage of the running programme and blink when there is a problem (see troubleshooting). The power lamp is lit when a programme is selected.
- Programme knob programmes — The programme knob turns both ways. "Aus" at the top means the machine is off. To the right of "Aus" is Koch/Buntwäsche (cotton 30...90), at the bottom Spülen, Schleudern, Abpumpen, on the left Wolle, Fein/Seide, Pflegeleicht. The knob does not turn while a programme runs (electronic). The 30/40/60 marks on the upper left belong to Pflegeleicht (synthetics), the ones on the upper right to Buntwäsche (coloureds).
The door does not open
- Rinse hold (tub symbol on the spin knob) was used. Choose "Abpumpen" or "Schleudern".
- The door lock is active: wait two minutes.
Manual, p. 44
Detergent remains in the drawer
- The powder was damp or lumpy. Clean the drawer (p. 39).
- Use the dosing aid for liquid detergent.
Manual, p. 45
The indicator lamps are off
- A fuse at the fuse box has blown: switch it on or replace it, call service if it happens again.
- A power cut: the programme continues when power returns. If you need to take out the laundry, follow the "Cleaning the pump" section.
- The plug is not in the socket or is loose.
Manual, p. 45
The programme does not start, the power lamp blinks
- The door is not fully closed: check nothing is trapped, close until it clicks.
- The Start button (diamond) was not pressed.
Manual, p. 45
No water comes in or detergent is not rinsed in, the rinse lamp blinks
- The tap is closed or the supply hose is kinked or squeezed.
- The filters in the supply hose are blocked (section "Cleaning the filters", p. 42).
Manual, p. 46
Detergent is not flushed out of compartment I
- A programme without prewash was selected: choose "Buntwäsche 60 °C + Vorwäsche".
Manual, p. 46
No water visible in the drum
- This is not a fault. The water is below the visible part of the drum.
Manual, p. 46
The solution is not fully drained, the spin lamp blinks
- Foreign objects block the pump: clean it (p. 40).
- Very fluffy laundry was washed: the drain pipe or hose is clogged, clear it.
Manual, p. 46
Water leaks from under the machine
- The inlet hose connection leaks: tighten the threaded joint.
- The drain hose leaks: replace it.
Manual, p. 46
Foam comes out of the drawer
- Too much detergent. Mix a tablespoon of fabric softener with 1/2 l of water and pour it into compartment II; dose more precisely next time.
Manual, p. 46
Laundry was not wrung out properly
- Large items rolled up together and could not distribute evenly: always wash small and large items together.
- For safety the high-speed spin was switched off.
- The iron button is pressed: the spin runs at 800 rpm at most.
- "Spülen" or "Schleudern" was selected (800 rpm at most).
Manual, p. 47
Repeated spins or a programme longer than usual
- This is not a fault: the unbalance compensation tries to distribute the laundry more evenly in the drum.
- The foam detection added an extra rinse: use less detergent next time.
Manual, p. 47
Unsatisfactory wash result
- The soiling was heavier than assumed or the machine was loaded beyond the recommendation: choose a suitable programme, press the "shirt" button or load less.
- Too little detergent was used: dose according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Manual, p. 47

Unplug the machine before cleaning and never wash it with a jet of water. Wipe the housing and panel with soapy water or a mild non-abrasive cleaner, then dry. Do not use solvents.
If forgotten metal objects have left rust stains, remove them with a chlorine-free cleaner following its maker's instructions. Do not use wire wool.
If a layer of detergent residue has built up, pull the drawer out fully, press on the insert and remove the drawer completely. Lift out the insert, wash the drawer and insert under running water, dry them and click the insert back in.
The pump may be blocked by foreign objects or lint. To drain the solution, turn the knob to "Aus", open the plinth cover, free the drain hose, open its end and drain into a container (up to 20 l, let hot solution cool first). Then unscrew the pump cover, remove objects and lint, check that the impeller turns freely, screw the cover back and close the plinth cover. After cleaning, pour about a litre of water into compartment II and run "Abpumpen".
If little or no water comes in and the rinse lamp blinks: close the tap, select any programme (except Schleudern and Abpumpen), press Start for about 40 seconds to release pressure, turn the knob to "Aus". Then remove the hose from the tap and wash the mesh filter; if needed also disconnect the hose at the back of the machine, take out the filter and wash it under running water.
If you always dose detergent correctly, descaling is not needed. Descalers contain acids that can damage machine parts; use them strictly as the maker of the descaler instructs.
Where the data comes from
- Operating instructions Bosch WFO 2451/2051 (RU, copy from a service site), p. 4-52 (номера страниц в данных совпадают с печатными номерами) (manual archive)
Assumptions
- Electronic control: the manual states that the programme knob does not turn while a programme runs (p. 9). So cycle.dialMoves=false; knob positions in cycle.steps select the programme rather than a timer step.
- Knob angles are taken from the panel drawing on p. 9, approximately (0 = 12 o'clock, clockwise). The positions on the left (Pflegeleicht 60/40/30, Fein/Seide, Wolle kalt/30) are estimated from the drawing.
- For programmes with a time in the consumption table (p. 50) the sum of the steps is fitted to that time; the split into wash, rinse, drain and spin is an estimate (cycle.estimate=true). The table times come from a control wash (for several programmes with the "shirt" button pressed).
- For positions without a row in the consumption table (Buntwäsche 30, 60+Vorwäsche, Pflegeleicht 30 and 60, Wolle kalt, Spülen, Schleudern, Abpumpen) the step durations are estimates and no total is stated in durationMin.
- The drawer compartments left to right (II, flower, I) are taken from the drawing on p. 20 and match the related Bosch Maxx 4; the text does not describe the order.
- Maximum spin per programme comes from the table on p. 25: Koch/Buntwäsche 1000 (1200 on the WFO 2451), other programmes 800 or 600 (Fein/Seide).
- Load: Koch- und Buntwäsche 6 kg, Pflegeleicht 3 kg, Fein/Seide 2 kg, Wolle 2 kg (p. 5); Buntwäsche 60 is 5 kg in the consumption table.
- Panel colours are approximate: no photo of the machine was viewed, the manual drawings are grey.
- Years are approximate: the manual gives none.
Not in the manual
- The manual has no per-programme table of which extra functions are allowed; the iron, extra rinse and shirt buttons are allowed in the data for the main wash programmes from the general description, and only extra rinse for Wolle and Fein/Seide.
- For Buntwäsche 30 °C, Buntwäsche 60 + Vorwäsche, Pflegeleicht 30 and 60 °C, Wolle kalt, Spülen, Schleudern and Abpumpen the consumption table gives no water, energy or time.
- The 1200 rpm mark is printed on the panel but the WFO 2051 tops out at 1000 (p. 25); the manual does not explain how the knob behaves at 1200 on this model.
- The order of the drawer compartments is not described in the text, it is taken from the drawing.
- The "Wolle kalt" position is not described separately in the text; temperature 0 is assumed from the word "kalt".
Time is an estimate from the timer steps and heater power: heating 12 l of water from 15 °C to the selected temperature with a 2000 W (not stated in the manual, typical value used) heater. Real time depends on tap water temperature, load and mains voltage.
