CBL 85
Candy front loader (5 kg, 850 rpm) with a programme selector that turns both ways and has an OFF position, separate START and door buttons, four option buttons (Super Rapid, Crease Guard, Extra Rinse, Intensive) and a four-compartment drawer with bleach. The manual does not draw the knob, so its marks are rebuilt from the programme table.

4. Detergent drawer
Front view, left to right. Highlighted compartments are the ones the machine takes detergent from on this programme.
The drawer has 4 compartments: I powder for prewash; II powder for the main programmes and the 32-minute programme; triangle bleach; flower special additives (softeners, perfumes, starch, bluing). Only liquids go into the third and fourth compartments. For liquid detergent put the supplied container into compartment II. The "32" scoop for the rapid programme is supplied. The order left to right is taken from the drawing.
Tap a row to set that programme on the panel.

- Button Super Rapid — Button D "Super Rapid": shortens the wash by 10-50 minutes depending on programme and temperature. For loads of 1-5 kg, only on cotton and synthetic programmes.
- Button Crease Guard — Button E "Crease Guard": reduces creasing. For mixed fabrics the water is cooled gradually, the drum does not turn and the spin is delicate. For delicates, wool and hard-wearing fabrics the laundry stays in the water after the last rinse; to drain: release START, turn the knob to OFF, choose Drain, wait 5 seconds and press START.
- Button Extra Rinse — Button F: adds a rinse or more water depending on the programme. Important for sensitive skin and allergy sufferers.
- Button Intensive — Button G: only for cotton programmes for hard-wearing fabrics. The wash temperature is kept constant in all stages and the programme is extended for a deeper clean of heavily soiled, colour-fast laundry.
- Lamp — The row of lamps N above the knobs shows which stage of the programme is running (prewash, wash, rinse, spin) and the end of the cycle.
- Spin knob rpm — Knob H, turns in both directions. The maximum spin speed can be reduced right down to no spin (position with the no-spin symbol). The model maximum is 850 rpm; the manual gives no intermediate speeds. There is an electronic unbalance guard.
- Button door — Button B opens the door. After the wash or spin a safety device keeps the door locked for about 2 minutes. The door does not open while START is pressed in.
- Start button START — Button C START: starts the selected programme; it may take a few seconds to begin. To change settings of a running programme (pause), release START, make the change and press START again. To open the door or add laundry, release START and wait 2 minutes.
- Lamp — Lit when the programme knob is out of the OFF position.
- Programme knob programmes — Knob L: programme selector with an OFF position, turns in both directions. Turning it from OFF switches the machine on and lights the ON lamp. Match the marks with the programme table by temperature or symbol. The knob itself is not drawn in the manual: the positions are rebuilt from the table, order and angles are approximate. To switch off, return to OFF.
The machine does not work on any programme
- The plug is not properly in the socket.
- The switch was not pressed or the knob was not turned out of OFF.
- No power or blown fuses.
- The load door is open.
Manual, p. 64
The machine does not fill with water
- The same causes as in the previous item.
- The water tap is closed.
- The programme knob L is set incorrectly.
Manual, p. 64
The machine does not drain
- The filter is clogged: clean it.
- The drain tube is kinked: straighten it.
Manual, p. 64
Water on the floor around the machine
- Water leaks between the tap and the inlet tube: replace the washer and tighten the connection.
Manual, p. 64
The machine does not spin
- The water has not yet been drained: wait a few minutes until the machine drains.
- The "no spin" setting is on (some models): turn the dial to spin.
Manual, p. 64
Strong vibration during the spin
- The machine is not level: adjust the feet.
- The transport brackets were not removed.
- The load is not evenly distributed in the drum.
Manual, p. 64

Do not use abrasives, spirits or solvents on the outside; a damp cloth is enough.
From time to time clean the bleach and softener compartments: pull the inserts out gently, wash the drawer and inserts under running water and put them back.
The filter catches coins, buttons and other objects. Open the plinth cover and use it to catch leftover water, loosen the screw, turn the filter anticlockwise until it stops in a vertical position, take it out and clean it. Refit in reverse order.
Before moving the machine or leaving it for a long period in an unheated room, unplug it and drain the water from the machine and the drain tube (use a container and the hose clamp); do the same with the inlet hose.
Where the data comes from
- Operating instructions Candy CBL 85 (RU/UKR/CZ/PL/EN, copy from a service site), p. 14-67 (печатные номера страниц на разворотах; номера страниц PDF в 1,5-2 раза меньше) (manual archive)
Assumptions
- The set and order of programme knob (L) positions is rebuilt from the programme table (p. 44): the knob itself is not drawn in the manual. The marks, order and angles are approximate (anglesEstimate=true); what is printed on the panel may differ.
- The selector turns in both directions, has an OFF position, phase lamps and remembers the programme after a power cut (p. 58), so cycle.dialMoves=false is assumed: the knob does not show the progress of the programme. The manual does call it a "timer knob" (p. 23), so the exact mechanism is not certain.
- Step times are estimates (cycle.estimate=true): the manual states a duration only for the rapid programme (about 32 min, 2 kg, 50 °C).
- sourcePage values are the printed page numbers on the spreads of the Russian part (programme table p. 44, panel p. 22, buttons p. 24-33, drawer p. 36).
- The Russian and English programme tables disagree in one row (mixed fabrics with prewash, 60 °C): "bleeding" in Russian, "fast coloureds" in English. The English version is used.
- The 850 rpm maximum comes from the technical data table (p. 14). The manual gives no per-programme spin limit, so spinMaxRpm=850 for all programmes.
- Loads by group: cotton 5 kg, mixed 2 kg, delicates 1.5 kg, wool and hand wash 1 kg ("max load" column, p. 44). 3 kg is recommended for heavy soiling.
- Buttons: "Super Rapid" only cotton and synthetics (p. 26), "Intensive" only cotton for hard-wearing fabrics (p. 30); the applicability of "Crease Guard" and "Extra Rinse" to individual programmes is not specified and is assumed for wash programmes.
- Years are approximate: the last page carries the code 01.11 (possibly November 2001), there are no exact years.
- Panel colours are approximate: no photo of the machine was viewed.
Not in the manual
- There is no drawing of the programme knob: the exact marks, order and number of positions are unknown.
- No intermediate spin speeds, only the 850 rpm maximum and no spin.
- No programme durations (except the 32-minute one), no water or energy consumption per programme.
- No split of times by stage and no temperature for the cold-wash positions.
- It is not stated how the phase lamps map to the individual symbols and the end-of-cycle lamp.
Time is an estimate from the timer steps and heater power: heating 12 l of water from 15 °C to the selected temperature with a 2000 W (not stated in the manual, typical value used) heater. Real time depends on tap water temperature, load and mains voltage.
