4. Detergent drawer
Front view, left to right. Highlighted compartments are the ones the machine takes detergent from on this programme.
The drawer slides out towards you. To clean it, lift it slightly, take it out and hold it under running water for a few minutes. Insert 4 for bleach is supplied with the machine and goes into compartment 1; fill no higher than the max mark. Liquid detergent is poured into compartment 2 before switching the machine on. Do not use softener and starch together.
Tap a row to set that programme on the panel.

- Button Easy iron — Button D. Washing without creasing. Only with programmes 3-4, 5-6, 8-9. On 5, 6, 8, 9 the programme knob stops at the drain symbol and does not drain the water from the drum; the wash can be finished by pressing the button again. Cannot be used together with the stain removal button.
- Button Slow spin — Button E. Reduces the spin speed: from 800 to 400 rpm on cotton and from 700 to 400 rpm on synthetics.
- Button Stain removal — Button F. Intensive wash: detergent additives work more effectively and stubborn soiling is removed. After pressing it the prewash is not available. Also used for bleaching (insert 4 in compartment 1).
- Power button I/O — Button G, on/off. Switching the machine off does not cancel the programme that was set.
- Lamp — Lamp H. Blinks when the machine is on and waiting for a setting; a steady light means the setting is accepted and the wash has started. The special pattern lit 2 s, off 4 s means a delayed start is set.
- Lamp — Lamp I. Lit while the door is locked. Goes out about 3 minutes after the end of the wash; do not open the door before that.
- Temperature knob °C — Knob B. Sets the wash temperature according to the programme table; you can choose lower than recommended or a cold wash (snowflake symbol). The manual does not give labels for the knob marks.
- Programme knob Programmes — Knob A. Turn clockwise only. Align the marker on the knob with the number of the programme you want. After the start the knob turns by itself; to cancel, set it to "•" and wait 5 seconds.
The machine does not switch on
- The plug is not in the socket or there is no power.
- The door is not closed properly.
- Whether power button G is pressed; if it is pressed but the machine does not work, a delayed start may have been set.
- Programme knob A is not in the correct position.
- The water tap is closed or there is no water in the house.
Manual, p. 17
The machine does not fill with water
- The hose is connected incorrectly or pinched.
- The water is shut off in the house or the pressure is low.
- The filter on the inlet hose is blocked.
Manual, p. 17
The programme knob keeps turning
- Wait a few minutes for the pump to empty the water, switch the machine off, set the knob to "•" (Stop/Reset) and switch on again. If it keeps turning, call service.
Manual, p. 18
The machine fills and drains water at the same time
- The end of the drain hose is too low: a height of 60-100 cm is needed.
- The end of the hose is submerged in water.
- There is no air vent in the drain system; on upper floors a siphon effect is possible, an anti-siphon is fitted.
Manual, p. 18
It does not drain or spin
- A programme without automatic draining is selected: the drain must be started manually.
- Easy iron is on (stop with water).
- The drain pump or filter is blocked, the drain hose is pinched or blocked, or there is a blockage in the sewer.
Manual, p. 18
Strong vibration during spin
- The transport restraints have not been removed (p. 21).
- The machine is not level.
- There is no gap between the machine and the wall or furniture.
Manual, p. 19
Water is leaking
- The ring of the inlet hose is not tightened properly or the gasket is seated wrongly.
- The detergent drawer is blocked.
- The drain hose is not fixed properly.
Manual, p. 19
Too much foam
- The detergent is not suitable for front-loading automatic machines.
- Too much detergent.
Manual, p. 19

Close the water tap, leave the door slightly open so that odours do not build up, and unplug the machine when going away or servicing it.
Lift slightly and take out the drawer, hold it under running water for a few minutes. Rinse regularly so that powder residues do not dry up.
The machine has a self-cleaning pump, but small objects can get into the filter at the bottom. Before removing the panel with a screwdriver, disconnect the machine from the mains, place a container underneath, turn the filter cap anticlockwise, clean it, screw it back and refit the panel.
Check the hose at least once a year and replace it if cracked. With hard water, run an empty wash with a descaler from time to time.
Where the data comes from
- Indesit W 84 TX, W 84 TK: Operating manual (RU, 35 pp.), scan on McGrp, p. 1-35 (использованы 4-9, 12-20, 26-27) (manual archive)
- Indesit WS 84 TX: Manual (a close relative from the same series; text cross-check), p. 5-9 (manual archive)
Assumptions
- The manual describes the W 84 TX and W 84 TK together. Page 5 shows three round keys and two knobs; there is no spin speed knob (the WS 84 TX has one, it is a separate model).
- The order of positions on the programme knob follows the order of the rows in the table on p. 8: 1-4, rinse, spin, stop; 5-7, rinse, softener, spin, stop; 8-9, rinse, spin, drain, stop; four delayed-start positions, stop. 25 positions in all, angles are evenly spaced and approximate. Position labels replace the pictograms with text.
- The values on the temperature knob (cold, 30, 40, 60, 90) are derived from the programme temperatures and the text on cold washing; the scale itself is not shown in the manual, angles are nominal.
- The durations of cycle.steps are chosen so that the timer time plus the heating estimate roughly gives the total times from the table (165, 145, 130, 95, 100, 70, 30, 60, 50 min). The split into phases and the chain of steps are not confirmed by the manual (for positions 2, 3 and 4 they are assumed to follow one another).
- The water volume in the main wash (8 l) is an estimate; the manufacturer only says that half as much water is used. The 1850 W in the manual is the maximum power of the machine, not of the heater.
- For programmes 5-6 (synthetics) the table says "stop with water or delicate spin"; it is assumed that without easy iron the cycle ends with a spin and with it with a stop with water (p. 7). For programme 9, no spin is assumed based on p. 9 and similar text of a related model.
- The panel colours (light grey plastic, dark lettering) are typical for the series; no photo of this particular machine was used.
- The year of manufacture is not given in the manual; the range is estimated from the series.
Not in the manual
- The manual does not give the prewash temperature or the spin speed for the delicate programmes 8-9.
- In the table on p. 9 the symbol in the "Detergent" column against the "Rinse" row for synthetics is ambiguous; compartments for these rows are not set.
- Labels of the marks on the temperature knob and the exact angles of the positions on the programme knob are absent from the manual.
- The duration of each programme is given in the table only in minutes without a split into phases.
- The year of manufacture and a photo of the panel were not found.
Time is an estimate from the timer steps and heater power: heating 8 l of water from 15 °C to the selected temperature with a 1850 W heater. Real time depends on tap water temperature, load and mains voltage.
