FL 504 NN
A narrow (32 cm deep) machine with a mechanical selector of programmes marked with the letters A-P and a separate temperature knob. Programmes H-N always end with water in the tub, and it has to be drained manually.

2. Machine panel
Tap the marks around the knobs and the buttons — or choose below.
3. What happens
Programme knob path: from the selected position to the stop
- CWash … Spin
- •stop
- The programme can be changed only with the machine switched off: first release the On/Off button. p. 30
C — Short cycle: lightly soiled laundry, 30-40 °C, up to 3.5 kg
Stops by itself and drains
How to start
- Knob °C to 40.
- Knob programme to C (clockwise only).
- Buttons 1/2 (half load), spin off, door released.
- Drawer: Main wash powder (II) — Powder; Rinse additives (softener) (flower) — Softener (if desired).
- Close the door until it clicks.
- Press I/O — the machine starts at once.
Short cycle: main wash, 4 rinses and spin. For lightly soiled laundry.
4. Detergent drawer
Front view, left to right. Highlighted compartments are the ones the machine takes detergent from on this programme.
The dispenser is removed by pressing the catch at the top left. Do not exceed the MAX mark. Liquid softening and starching additives are poured into the compartment with the flower symbol before the programme starts. Liquid detergent is poured into the main wash compartment just before starting. With concentrated and liquid detergents choose a programme without a prewash.
Tap a row to set that programme on the panel.

- Power button I/O — On/Off. Press to start the machine, the "Programme in progress" lamp lights. To add laundry while it is running, release the button; press again and the programme continues. Release the button when the wash is finished.
- Button 1/2 — Reduced load (no more than 1.75 kg of cotton or linen): saves water on the rinse. Works with A, B, C, D.
- Button spin off — Cancels all spin phases, for particularly delicate cotton and linen. Works with A, B, C, D, F.
- Button door — Opens the loading door. The door is locked during the programme and opens about 1-2 minutes after it ends.
- Temperature knob °C — Turn the knob until the desired temperature appears in the window. It turns both ways. On the snowflake symbol there is no heating.
- Lamp — "Programme in progress" signal lamp: lit while the machine is working, goes out at the end of the programme.
- Programme knob programme — Turn the selector to the right and set it to the desired programme. The programme can be changed only with the machine switched off.
The machine does not switch on
- The loading door is not closed properly.
- Make sure the water tap is open.
- The plug is not inserted properly in the socket.
- The socket has no power.
- A fuse has blown.
- The On/Off button is not pressed.
Manual, p. 40
The machine does not fill with water
- The water tap is not open.
- The inlet hose filter is blocked.
- The inlet hose is pinched or kinked.
Manual, p. 40
The machine fills and drains water at once
- The end of the drain hose is too low (see the "Installation" section).
Manual, p. 40
The machine does not drain and/or does not spin
- The drain hose is pinched or kinked.
- A programme that ends with water in the tub is selected.
- The spin-off button is pressed.
Manual, p. 40
Water on the floor
- Too much or unsuitable powder (heavy foaming).
- A leak at the inlet hose connections (not always visible, check whether the hose is damp).
- The drain hose is damaged.
- The loading door is not closed properly.
Manual, p. 40
The machine vibrates or is noisy
- The internal packing parts and transport bolts have not been removed.
- The machine touches walls or furniture.
- The feet are not firmly set.
- The laundry is unevenly distributed or there is too little of it.
Manual, p. 40
The door does not open
- The programme is still running.
- The door has not unlocked yet: it opens about 1-2 minutes after the programme ends.
- A programme with a stop with water is selected: drain the water first.
Manual, p. 41
Powder and foam residues after the wash
- Insoluble components of modern powders: this is not a sign of poor rinsing. Brush the laundry clean, wash again if necessary.
- Modern powders can foam even after rinsing; it does not affect the wash quality.
Manual, p. 41
Unsatisfactory wash result
- Not enough powder or an unsuitable choice.
- Stubborn stains were not pre-treated before washing.
- An unsuitable temperature was selected.
- Too much laundry was loaded.
Manual, p. 41

Wash with a hand dishwashing solution, rinse with clean water and wipe. Do not use products containing alcohol.
Check from time to time that there are no foreign objects in the seal: paper clips, buttons, toothpicks.
It is removed by pressing the upper catch on the left; the upper part of the additive compartments can be taken off. Clean the recess under the dispenser with an old toothbrush, then fit the dispenser and run a wash without laundry.
If the water fills slowly: close the tap, unscrew the hose, clean the filter in the hose with a toothbrush, screw the hose back on.
The hose is self-cleaning, there is no drain hose filter, and the pump needs no special care.
Pull the plug from the socket, close the tap, wait for the water to cool, put a container on the floor and lower the end of the drain hose into it.
Close the tap, remove the inlet hose, lower the ends of the hoses into a basin, run the drain programme and wait for the selector to return to "Stop", pull the plug.
Before the first wash, run a programme at 60 °C without laundry, putting 100 g of powder into the main wash compartment.
Where the data comes from
- Zanussi FL 504 NN: operating manual (RU), booklet 132998371, p. pdf 2-21 (нумерация брошюры 21-41) (manual archive)
- Model page in the manual archive rembitteh.ru (manual archive)
Assumptions
- The angles of the selector positions (14 positions, evenly round the circle, "Stop" at the top) and the marks of the temperature knob (0, 30, 40, 60, 95) are estimates: the manual has only a schematic drawing of the panel and a card with letters.
- The order of the letters on the selector is assumed to be alphabetical (Stop, A, B, C, D, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, P). On the card they are printed in two columns; the actual order on the knob is not shown in the manual.
- The "Stop" position on the selector follows from the text on frost protection (p. 39: the selector must return to the "Stop" position); its place on the scale is not shown.
- The cycle.steps durations are chosen so that together with heating they add up to the total time from the programme table (pp. 36-37); the split into phases is an estimate. Each programme is recorded as a separate chain of steps ending with a step with end.
- The panel colours are taken from the black-and-white drawing in the manual and are nominal; no photo of the machine was used.
- The range of years is an estimate: the manual does not give the year of manufacture.
- The consumption data in the table are for 3 kg of laundry and the warmest water; the time stated includes heating.
- The water volume of the main wash (12 l) is an estimate.
Not in the manual
- The heater power is not given separately: the technical data show only the total power consumption of 1800 W (p. 26), so heaterW is not filled in.
- The exact marks on the temperature knob and the position of the "cold wash" on the scale are not given, other than the snowflake symbol.
- The prewash temperature (programmes A and H) is not given.
- The duration of the individual phases within programmes is not given, only the total time.
- The spin speed per programme is not given: only the maximum of 500 rpm is known (p. 26).
- The look of the knobs is not shown in a photo, so the pointer shape and colours are nominal.
Time is an estimate from the timer steps and heater power: heating 12 l of water from 15 °C to the selected temperature with a 2000 W (not stated in the manual, typical value used) heater. Real time depends on tap water temperature, load and mains voltage.
